CALLUM ROOKES

"That British Conductor Guy"

Where did the moniker "That British Conductor Guy" come from?

While working internationally, Callum found himself regularly introduced simply as “that British conductor guy”—perhaps because the Scottish name Callum proved unfamiliar in some parts of the world. The nickname stuck, and with it came a welcome end to being mistaken for Alan, Caleb, Calvin, or Kaylum.

Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s words, “hvor ord svigter, taler musikken”—where words fail, music speaks—Callum Rookes is an inspiring musician, charismatic conductor, and versatile performer. He has built an exciting and eclectic career, performing and conducting with orchestras and ensembles across the globe, connecting audiences through music when words are not enough.
